The beauty of Hawaii

We recently went to Hawaii for some much needed R&R...
I couldn't get over the gorgeous sunsets, and the different colors that the sky morphed into truly inspired me.

Bride's Choice Award 2009

WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that Freelance Makeup Artist -Heather Johnson has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means
Heather Johnson is one of the very best in makeup beauty.

Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

“We are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing vendors based solely on the
experiences of our WeddingWire community,” according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in the wedding industry.”

Freelance Makeup Artist - Heather Johnson  would like to thank our past clients for speaking on our behalf and helping us win the 2009 Bride’s Choice Award!

Trial Run fun!

Thursday I had a great morning doing two trial runs for two great brides to be! First meet Meredith, she's currently attending school in Paris. She'll be having her wedding at the Chandor Gardens, in Weatherford. I haven't done a wedding there yet, so I'm looking forward to it. Meredith wanted a classic bridal look that wasn't too fussy. She's wearing a simple yet elegant vintage dress. I wanted her features to pop instead of the makeup. I think we accomplished that with using a shadow that would pick up on the flecks of gold in her eyes. She's going to look gorgeous!!

Next meet Le, she was so fun! She and her husband tied the knot in Vegas, but are having their reception at the Fort Worth Community Art Center. She's excited to give her guests a unique experience, and allow them to experience a little bit of art on such a exciting occasion! For Le, it was all about the eyes! She doesn't normally wear a lot of makeup so this was a little bit of a stretch for her, thankfully she loved it. She's going to be wearing a couple different dresses at her reception, so I wanted to keep the makeup "pretty" but versatile.

A New Season

A new season calls for a NEW FRESH FALL LOOK...

Don't stick with just boring brown, freshin up your look with deeper hues for your eyes like cherrys, purples, greens or teals. Pair these hues with neutral tones and you'll be right on trend! If your not comfortable with applying these shades over the lid, try applying these shades using a liquid liner instead - super chic!

This season is also all about Beautiful Berry Lips! Remember if you are going to apply darker lips, keep your eyes simple, this will keep you from looking overdone.

Girl's Weekend in SEATTLE!

This weekend I went to Seattle. It was a well deserved "girls weekend"! We went to all of the must-see's that Seattle has to offer -The Glass Museum, Pike's Market, The Space Needle, Pioneer Square, and my favorite, whale watching!! I loved every minute of it, and the weather was perfect - high 70's everyday.

Our boat had to stay 100 feet from the Orca Whales,
but if you look closely you can see them...

Stephanie and Adam's Wedding

I had a great time doing Stephanie's makeup for her wedding. Her whole family is so sweet, and did I forget to mention, GORGEOUS! Stephanie wanted a smokey eye with a full line of individual faux lashes. Her colors for the wedding were right on trend for this fall... amethyst. It was a pleasure doing her makeup as well as her mother and both of her sisters. Check out the photos I took from that day. You can also see some more photos taken by the photographer himself, Kevin Jairai, at www.thekjblog.com

I can't wait to see some more of the wedding photos.

Lisa and Milton's Wedding

This weekend I went to Las Colinas to do Lisa's wedding makeup.
Milton and Lisa have been together for 13 years.

I also did Lisa's sister's makeup...
